Text Encryption & Decryption (AES)

Encrypt and decrypt text with a password using AES-GCM.

Instant 100% in-browser Free

This tool encrypts text with a password using AES-GCM — a modern, authenticated encryption standard — and decrypts it back when you supply the same password. The key is derived from your password with PBKDF2, and everything runs locally in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Type the text you want to encrypt.
  2. Enter a password.
  3. Click Encrypt to get a secure cipher string.
  4. To decrypt, paste the cipher string, enter the same password, and click Decrypt.

About Text Encryption

Sometimes you need to protect a small piece of text — a note, a credential, a message — so that only someone with the password can read it. AES-GCM is the symmetric encryption standard trusted across the industry, providing both confidentiality and tamper detection. This tool derives an encryption key from your password using PBKDF2 with a random salt, then encrypts using the Web Crypto API. Because it all happens in your browser, neither the text nor the password is ever transmitted. Keep in mind that the security depends entirely on the strength of your password and on keeping it safe.

FAQ

What algorithm is used?

AES-GCM with a 256-bit key derived from your password via PBKDF2 and a random salt. This provides authenticated encryption.

Is my text or password uploaded?

No. Both encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API.

What if I lose the password?

The text cannot be recovered. There is no backdoor — that is the point of encryption.
